Chief Charles W. Williams

Welcome to the Cornwall on Hudson Police Department's website. Our purpose for creating this site is to give you a clear view into the workings of our department. Police protection services in the Town and Village can be traced back to the 1880's when the citizens of Cornwall petitioned for a police force. "Subscriptions" were used to fund police services in 1902, $15.00 a month was required for P.O. William Reynolds' nighttime coverage. In 1923 Leo Fanning was appointed the sole policeman for the Village, Town, Firthcliffe and Mountainville receiving $125 per month salary and $3000.00 yearly budget. These men and the men and women who followed, were dedicated to providing a professional, community based police force. That dedication lives on today. The Cornwall on Hudson Police Department is committed to providing our Village residents with the most professional and courteous police service possible. It is with this philosophy in mind that we hope to better serve you.
