  Dear Neighbor,

  2020 was certainly a year to be forgotten for all of us. The COVID pandemic wreaked havoc on our entire country, state, and community. Through it all our fire company continued to meet the emergency needs of its residents whenever called upon. Alas, there is light at the end of the tunnel. As the COVID vaccine continues to be administered on a daily basis, our community has begun to regain some normalcy as part of our daily lives. With this in mind and as summer approaches we are happy to announce that we will once again host the 70th edition of our Annual Summer Firemen’s Fair July 21^st thru July 24^th this year on the grounds of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School. This year’s fair promises to be very special in light of what we have all collectively faced this past year.

  You will begin to see our advertising signs in the area beginning on or about July 1^st. Set-up will begin Saturday July 17^th with opening night of the fair on the 21^st. The start time on Wed., Thur., and Fri. will be 6pm and closing time each night is 11pm. The final day of the fair, Saturday, will open at 4pm and close at 11pm following our grand fireworks display. We will host area summer camps on Wed. and Thur. between 9am and 1pm. Each night of the fair will include the typical carnival rides, games of chance, food and live music. Break down and clean- up will take place on Sunday July 25^th with carnival ride removal from the grounds continuing for a couple of days thereafter.

  While this annual summer event is much anticipated and enjoyed by the vast majority of our community, it can present some minor inconvenience and disturbance to some in our village. Particularly for residents such as you who reside in close proximity to the fair grounds. We do not this lightly and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. With this in mind, we would like to provide you the following contact information should you have any questions or concerns regarding this year’s fair. You may feel free to contact either of us.

  Friends & Neighbors,

                  Our Firemen’s Fair has been a summer staple in the community for the past 69 years. Generations of our community have celebrated the summer season each year by partaking in the food, games, rides and all that the fair has to offer. For some who have attended as a child, they now relive that experience with their own children or even grandchildren. The celebration has continued without hesitation despite the many obstacles that have presented themselves over the course of all these years.

                  The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced the cancellation or modification of many traditional spring and summer events in our community such the Memorial Day parade, River-Fest, High School graduation, and our community’s customary July 4^th celebration. Unfortunately, our Firemen’s Fair is no different. 

                  It is out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and well-being of each and every member of the greater Cornwall-on-Hudson area that we must announce the cancellation of this year’s edition of our Firemen’s Fair. After careful and thoughtful collaboration with our partners, who assist us each year with its presentation, we found that there was no alternative other than its cancellation.

                  We thank the Cornwall School District, Shamrock Shows, our local first responders, Village employees, Village Officials, the many businesses and you, our friends and neighbors, that have supported our Summer Fair each and every year. Without this support, we would not be able to conduct this event each year.

                  So, we ask that you all mark your calendar for the 71^st Edition of the Annual Storm King Firemen’s Fair to take place July 21 -24, 2021. We promise that you won’t want to miss it.

  Dear Residents and Friends of the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson,

  Sunday evening’s storm brought plenty of devastation and destruction to the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson and greater Cornwall community. Across the past two days, Supervisor Wojehowski and I have been actively engaged with elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels in an effort to secure as much recompense for our storm-damaged municipal infrastructure and residential properties alike. These things take time – but make no mistake – this is JOB ONE for us. Everyone should take photographs and recordings of the damages your properties sustained. Make a record of EVEYTHING. Our Office of Emergency Management Director Kurt Hahn, provided following information for chronicling individual damages:

  Orange County is working with NYS to conduct preliminary damage assessments at this time. While not FEMA-related, you may report damage to your home or damage to infrastructure in your area directly by using the following RESIDENT DAMAGE SURVEY FORM link:

  Also, you may dial 311 for assistance. But, due to high call volume, your information may be taken and you will receive call back after call volume lessens. This opportunity is available between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., daily, for the near future.

  It goes without saying, but I’ll say it again – a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the first responders from COHPD, SKE2, DPW, and our Water Department for dropping everything, leaving their homes and families, and answering the bell during emergency (yet again). I’ve also been struck by the resiliency and neighborly spirit of our community across the past few days. Everything from assisting neighbors pump basements and remove yard debris to housing displaced soldiers and cadets who couldn’t make it back to West Point due to road closures and collapses.

  I remain humbled by your selflessness and concern for others. We’ll get through this together.

• Public Hearing Notice- Municipal Seperate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4)

  WHEREAS, the Village Board wished to set a time and place for a public hearing to consider the adoption of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) audit.

  NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY –

  RESOLVED, that the Village Board hereby determines that it will be the lead agency with respect to the review of (the “project”) in accord with New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”) and part 617 of the regulations implementing SEQRA, since there are no other agencies that have the authority to approve the project; and it is further –

  RESOLVED, that the Village Board hereby classifies the action as an unlisted action under SEQRA; and it is further –

  RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held by the Village Board in order to receive comments and suggestions regarding the audit of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4), and to receive any comments concerning the potential adverse environmental impacts of the proposed legislation in accord with SEQRA, on April 15, 2019 at 7:01 p.m. at the Village Hall located at 325 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York; and it is further –

  RESOLVED, that the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause said public notice of said hearing to be given as provided by law.
